Rahul Gandhi, who has completed two years as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said he will continue to carry the voice of the people to the corridors of power and fight for issues.
In a post on social media platform X, accompanied by a three-and-a-half-minute video of his speeches and interventions over the past two years, Mr Gandhi said he had dedicated every day since assuming office to representing the interests of ordinary Indians.
“Today marks two years since I became the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Every single day of those two years has been devoted to one task – to carry the voice of every Indian into the corridors of power,” he said.
“Be it fighting for NEET candidates, exposing electoral fraud or defending the constitution, I have stood with you on all fronts. I stand with you today and always will,” he said.
Mr Gandhi said the trust reposed in him by people “from the streets to Parliament” remained his greatest strength.
“The journey is long but my determination remains the same – I will fight for you in every battle. Jai Hind. Jai Constitution,” he said.
Later in the day, Mr. Gandhi also took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Mr. Modi wished Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on his birthday and appreciated his efforts in implementing the National Education Policy.
Responding to a post on X by Congress media and publicity chief Pawan Khera naming students who committed suicide over the NEET paper leak, Mr Gandhi said every name on the list was a child whose dream, family and future had been destroyed by a “broken system and a government that refuses to learn or be held accountable”.
“When PM Modi praised Dharmendra Pradhan ji on his birthday, did he even think of these children?” he said.
Mr. Gandhi, a five-term Member of Parliament representing Rae Bareli, was appointed Leader of the Opposition in June 2024 after the Congress became the single largest opposition party in the Lok Sabha.
He completed two years as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha today.
Every day of these two years there was only one task – to bring the voice of every Indian to power.
Be it the struggle of NEET students, exposing vote theft or protecting the constitution, I have stood with you on all fronts, I am there today, I always will be.
