Ravicandran Ashwin approved Jasprit Bumrah as a potential new test captain after an unexpected retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virt Kohli from the test cricket. Both Stalwarts fired announced their retirement within a few days apart, with Rohit last Wednesday resigned and Kohli after a suit with Instagram announcement a few days later.Ashwin expressed a surprise while retiring to both players and sees demanding times for the Indian cricket.“I had no idea that both (Rohit and Kohli) would retire together. It will be a testing time for Indian cricket and I will say it is really the beginning of the Gautam Gambhir era,” Ashwin said on his Youtube show “Ash ki baat”.

He expressed concern about the upcoming series of five tests against England from June 20 in Headingley, where the team will feel the absence of an experienced leadership.

“Their retirement will certainly create a vacuum of leadership. You cannot buy experience, especially on such a tour.In particular, Ashwin emphasized Rohit’s potential continuing for team management.“The tests were the best (format for India) over the last 10-12 years, but only because of leadership, Rohit was supposed to play until the English series, and if he performed, he could continue and got another lead,” Ashwin added.
