Ravichandran Ashwin left the internet in splits when the former India spinner hilariously joked with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Anshul Kamboj, just hours before their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Lucknow Super Kings (LSG). It’s a busy Sunday for people in Tamil Nadu.
C Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) historic election victory. The actor, who is a superstar of Tamil cinema, has formed a coalition government that includes the Congress. But what caught Ashwin’s attention was the security guard standing next to Vijay, a Kamboja lookalike.
Not wasting an opportunity, Ashwin took to X (Twitter) and poked fun at his former franchise teammate. “Duty always comes first but on a must win match day #CSKVLSG it’s a bit much. It’s a day’s game, get a cab and get to Chepauk ASAP Anshul Kamboj. Big game,” Ashwin wrote.
Notably, Kamboj has been CSK’s top bowler so far (18 wickets) in IPL 2026 and also broke LSG’s opening stand by getting the better of the dangerous Mitchell Marsh. CSK host LSG in an IPL 2026 match on Sunday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. Ashwin had earlier wished Vijay after the election results.

CSK, the five-time IPL champions, started their IPL 2026 campaign with three consecutive losses before staging a brilliant turnaround with five wins in their last seven games. Currently, CSK is placed sixth in the IPL 2026 points table with 10 points and is almost in contention for the playoffs.
With the absence of MS Dhoni due to injury so far this season, Sanju Samson has successfully filled the void with his skills in the wicket and also with the bat. In fact, Samson has already smashed two hundreds in IPL 2026. Dhoni missed his 11th game on the trot in IPL 2026, the latest against LSG.

A win against LSG on Sunday will help CSK join Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals with 12 points, making the IPL 2026 playoff race more interesting. With just three wins in 10 matches, the Rishabh Pant-led side’s playoff chances are virtually over. A loss against CSK will surely close all doors for LSG.
