R Ashwin explained his decision to pull out the Auction of the International League T20 (ILT20) after he did not receive any offer during the event on Wednesday 1 October. Ashwin withdrew from the auction after he had not attracted any offers in the first roundAnd now he decided to participate in the Big Bash League (BBL) season with Sydney Thunder. The decision follows its initial registration for ILT20 for the basic price of $ 120,000, which is the highest among registered players, but without a franchise that would prove interest, Ashwin pulled out of the following auction rounds.
Ashwin explained that he did not intend to compromise his basic price and was ready to retreat from the league unless his award was met. In his statement Cricbuzz Ashwin said
“That’s the price I wanted as a bare minimum, and I’m glad I don’t play at this stage of my career, unless my value is met.”
The former Indian Spinner considered the withdrawal from the auction Ilt20 before it started, given his agreement with Sydney Thunder. However, it would be part of the ILT20 auction process.
“I was going to pull out a few days before the auction for Thunder Deal, but since I had already committed myself to Ilt20, I was going into the auction, I honored my word. But I disagreed with a reduction in my basic price,” Ashwin said.
Ashwin’s decision means it will be available for the whole BBL season. Said
“I have registered with Sydney Thunder throughout the season,” Ashwin said
Sydney Thunder, trained by Trevor Baylis, finished third in the previous BBL season. Ashwin’s experience is expected to strengthen their team because they are striving for a strong campaign this year.
Auction ILT20 saw Ashwin register at the highest base price among all players, but the lack of offers in the first round led to his leaving the process. With his agreement with Thunder, Ashwin became the first player to represent India, which was part of IPL.
