Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced at the Pan – IIT Andhra Pradesh Summit on Saturday that quantum computing operations will be launched in Amaravati from February 3, 2027 in collaboration with IBM, TCS and L&T.

This marks the evolution of Andhra Pradesh as a manufacturer and exporter of quantum hardware systems from being a mere consumer, Mr. Naidu said.

He said that a ‘Pan – IIT World Council’ would be created in Amaravati to guide curriculum reforms, support start-ups and mentorships and support the state’s goal of becoming a global knowledge hub.

Noting that it would be the world’s largest network of academics, he announced the creation of a ₹500 crore venture fund corpus to support deep-tech startups in the state.

In his keynote address at the event, Mr. Naidu said that India’s 23 Institutes of Technology (IITs) have produced some of the world’s brightest minds and the AP government was happy to work with them in various fields and urged them to help realize the vision of Swarna Andhra.

He noted that even before the arrival of the 156-qubit quantum system, quantum test facilities had started functioning in Amaravati and mini quantum test labs like Q-Shiva (consisting of five quantum computers inaugurated at the event) had also become available. IIT style labs must be set up in local educational institutions.

Sovereign stack AI

Mr. Naidu said that steps have been taken to create a Sovereign AI Stack and cited the 18% increase in GST revenue achieved through the adoption of AI as an example of the potential of AI and related technologies.

The government intended to promote entrepreneurship skills in high school students with the help of Pan – IIT Council.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target of training 1 million (10 million) artificial intelligence experts at the national level. In line with his objective, the AP government was aiming to supply 50 million AI professionals through the state, he said.

Pan-IIT AP organized by PanIIT Alumni India brought together IIT leaders, policy makers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, academics, technology experts and innovators to create a long-term technology and innovation roadmap for AP.

Some of the other announcements made at the event include the creation of a global network of IIT mentors, the IIT Technology Transfer Pipeline and the DeepTech Policy Package.

Pan-IIT Alumni India Chairman Prabhat Kumar, Vice-Chairman Amitabh Ranjan, Pan-IIT AP Summit Chairman Swadeep Pillarisetti, GoAP ITE&S Department Secretary Katamneni Bhaskar and a host of other dignitaries attended the programme.
