PV Ushakumari has taken charge as the Director of Mysuru Airport with effect from October 31.
Incidentally, Mrs. Ushakumari became the first director of the Mysuru Airport. Earlier, she was Deputy General Manager and Head of Operations at Kozhikode Karipur International Airport. Her appointment as the first woman to be in charge of the Mysuru Airport is considered a landmark in the history of Indian aviation.
A native of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Ms. Ushakumari started her career as a Security Supervisor in the Operations Department at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. During her tenure at Chennai Airport, she played a key role in setting up the Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC).
Her leadership skills came to the fore during the 2015 Chennai floods when she ensured the smooth running of the airport despite several challenges. Additionally, during the 2018 Kerala floods, her efforts at the Thiruvananthapuram airport to facilitate the movement of passengers showcased her organizational and crisis management skills.
