PV Sindhu loses to Ahn Se Young for the 11th time after a spirited battle at the French Open
An Se Young rallied from the match to beat PV Sindhu 16-21, 21-11, 21-15 to clinch her third consecutive French Open title on Sunday. The world number one was made to work hard by the Indian shuttler who made an encouraging start and briefly threatened to upset the defending champions in Paris. Sindhu’s win in the opening match was particularly significant and she won a match against the South Korean for the first time since 2023.
However, An Se Young gradually took control and used her power, accuracy and relentless movement to turn the contest around. Sindhu battled hard in the decider, staying in contention through some sharp intercourt returns and long rallies, but the South Korean’s consistency began to show as the game progressed. An Se Young pulled away in the closing stages before sealing the title at 21-15, celebrating jubilantly after completing her hat-trick. It was a spirited run for Sindhu that eventually ended just short of a major title.
