Russia would require the stopping of supplies of us and European weapons to Ukraine in any potential ceasefire agreement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an exclusive interview with ABC News.
“Certain dynamics” is needed
Peskov stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin must see specific changes to the battlefield before Moscow agrees with the extended ceasefire. He explained that the stopping of weapons is a critical condition.
“Otherwise, it will be an advantage for Ukraine. Ukraine will continue its complete mobilization and bring new units to the front line,” said Peskov Martha Raddatz ABC. “Ukraine will use this period to train new military staff AK’s rest of their existing ones. Why should we grant such an advantage to Ukraine?”
Ukraine “Not Ready for Interviews”
Peskov denied the claim that Putin would delay peace efforts, instead blames Kyiv of resisting the negotiations.
“President Putin is doing everything that can be solved, achieved by peace and diplomatic means,” he said. “But we don’t have any peace and democratic means at hand, we must continue the military operation.”
Hope for Trump’s role
The Kremlin’s spokesman also expressed hope that US President Donald Trump could push Kiev to a more flexible attitude.
“We hope that President Trump will be able to bring a little greater flexibility and a little more political will to position Kyiva,” Peskov added.
The US is pushing a 30 -day truce
Peskov’s notes come when Ukraine and Trump’s administration continue to defend a 30 -day ceasefire. Ukraine was looking for a ceasefire for weeks, while Trump threw support for this idea for this idea.
“Ideally, it requires us to ideally make a 30 -day unconditional ceasefire,” Trump said on Truth Social. “Hopefully, an acceptable ceasefire will be observed and both countries will be responsible for respecting the sacredness of these direct negotiations.”
Warning against sanctions
Trump also warned that further sanctions could follow, if the ceasefire is interrupted, wrote: “I remain determined to ensure peace between Russia and Ukraine,” he signals a stronger attitude after threatening to leave the peace process without progress.
