Story so far: The video that rocked the political landscape of Punjab surfaced in October 2025. It showed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann appearing to commit sacrilege as the person who sparked the outrage that soon turned into a full-fledged controversy on the political and religious fronts. However, the authenticity of the video has been debated. Police have registered a case against Canadian NRI Jagmandeep Singh, alias Jagman Samra; his social media account was deleted as part of the crackdown.

As the controversy persisted, the Akal Takht, the supreme temporary seat of the Sikhs, summoned Mr. Mann in January 2026. The Chief Minister claimed that the person seen in the video was not him.
