Justice Y. Lakshmana Rao of the Andhra Pradesh High Court heard pleas filed by Rajampet MP PV Midhun Reddy to quash four FIRs registered against him by the Punganur City Police for his alleged involvement in violence for filing nominations for local elections.

Senior counsel O. Manohar Reddy, appearing for Mr. Midhun Reddy, argued that the cases were being pushed for unfounded reasons on vexatious grounds.

Public Prosecutor M. Lakshminarajana appeared for the State. He submitted the videos to establish the MP’s involvement in the incident.

Senior advocate Posani Venkateshwarlu, appearing for one of the complainants, argued that the presence of the MP and his followers at the nomination center was unwarranted and that he had no right to seek any relief when the sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita invoked against him revealed the commission of cognizable offences.

Advocate PVG Umesh Chandra, representing another complainant, pointed out that the MP was neither a contestant nor a petitioner and had ignored police caution.

He added that Mr. Midhun Reddy could not make out a prima facie case for the grant of stay as there was evidence of reasonable nexus. In addition, counsel for Mr. Midhun Reddy submitted a medical report revealing his injuries. The matter was adjourned to a later date.
