PEDDAPALLI
About 6500 cusecs of Godavari water is lifted from Yellampalli project by running two engines of Nandi Medaram pumping station in Dharmaram mandal of Peddapalli district to irrigate ayacut under SRSP Flood Flow Canal (FFC).
The lifting of the water began on Friday (February 27) and is expected to continue for the next five days. According to irrigation department sources, this will benefit farmers in the FFC ayacut spread across Choppadandi, Dharmapuri, Metpalli, parts of Vemulawada and Balkonda constituencies in Karimnagar and Nizamabad combined districts.
The two engines at the Nandi Medaram pumping station, which is part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, will be operational till March 5, 2026 to lift Godavari water at the rate of 6,300 cusecs per day to meet the irrigation needs of FFC’s ayacutdars, mostly paddy growers in the current season.
The move would also help supply drinking water through the Mission Bhagiratha network during the ensuing peak summer season.
