The two-day collector’s conference ended on Thursday with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declaring that public satisfaction was the only real measure of officers’ performance and announcing surprise inspections by him starting in January.
“Numbers matter, but I will not fully believe them. I will soon undertake field visits to see with my own eyes the extent to which the government’s promises are being fulfilled,” he said, reiterating that the NDA is bound to fulfill the wishes of the people.
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that the government is fixing the social welfare calendar in April 2026 and wants the central funds to be fully utilized to raise additional amounts for the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. He directed that the presentations by the Collectors of the six districts on the best practices related to the various departments adopted by them should be followed across the state for better results.
Land disputes
He told the Collectors to focus properly on resolving ’22-A land disputes’, saying they were a hindrance to development in many areas, and to register cases under the Preventive Detention Act against individuals indulging in fraud.
The CM further instructed Collectors and SPs not to tolerate political interference in land disputes as Deputy CM K. Pawan Kalyan pointed this out by citing some specific cases in Visakhapatnam district. He urged the Collectors to eliminate corruption in the registration department. Ships should be purchased immediately to strengthen coastal security.
According to him, the speed of delivery of administration should be the new norm, adding that the collectors should try to tap the potential of the respective districts in different areas.
In a post on social media, the chief minister said he reviewed the progress made in the last 18 months and reflected on key areas for strengthening governance. “Responsibility to the people is central to our responsibility and service to them is our primary duty. Collectors are the brand ambassadors of the government. I encourage them to lead by example and continue their commitment to improving the lives of citizens,” he said.
