
The Ministry of School Education (Pre-University) in response to incidents of leakage of questions during the recently concluded II. preliminary examination PUC-1 has taken steps to conduct the preliminary examination-2 strictly. Rehearsals will begin on January 19.
In a circular issued in this regard, the director of the department has warned that if the question papers are leaked from the nodal center, an FIR will be registered against the nodal center director and legal action will be taken in addition to disciplinary action under the Karnataka Civil Service (Classification, Review and Appeal) Act, 1957.
The ministry has warned that legal action will also be taken against students if they send questions on WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram or other social media.
This time the state government took steps to conduct two prelims for II PUC and three prelims for SSLC and the prelims-1 was held from 5th January. PUC and SSLC Prelims II Papers leaked on social media in Shivamogga, Tumakuru and Kalaburagi.
Police have arrested eight persons, including government school teachers, in connection with the leak of SSLC exam question papers.
“If aided colleges fail to maintain confidentiality or if they cause question papers to leak, a recommendation will be made to the government to withdraw the grant from the college as per rules. If non-aided colleges/affiliated colleges fail to maintain confidentiality or if they cause question papers to leak, the recognition of the college will be permanently canceled as per rules,” the circular said.
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has been asked to recommend the cancellation of the said examination center in case of non-maintenance of confidentiality or paper leakage.
“The Deputy Director of Pre-University (DDPU) concerned districts should identify the printer in their district. No private printing activities should be carried out after the printing of the question paper has started. Private persons should not be allowed to enter the printing house. After the printing work is completed, the copy of the question papers should be deleted and the surplus printed question papers should be destroyed. In this regard, a DDPU circular should be issued and the circular should was to be read together by the DDPU printer.
“Under the supervision of the DDPU, the printing, packaging and sealing of the question papers with the Nodal Center watermark will be done at a designated printer using a tamper-proof seal. Downloading of questions to one computer under the same IP address is mandatory. The IP address will be monitored by the central office. If it is found that the download has been made on more than one IP address,” further legal action will be taken against the concerned DDPU.
