Public sector defense company Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) has announced a major contribution to the ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra’ in Ayodhya by manufacturing and supplying 31 specially designed titanium windows for the ‘Pradakshina’ corridor of the temple complex.
MIDHANI has been supplying titanium alloys for strategic applications for over four decades. It is the first time titanium has been used as a structural and architectural material in a memorial. Known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance and long life, titanium is typically reserved for high-precision aerospace and defense applications, according to an official release.
Its resistance to atmospheric, chemical and moisture degradation makes it ideal for outdoor structures that are expected to withstand centuries of exposure to the environment. By incorporating titanium into the architectural elements of the temple, the project ensures unmatched durability, minimal maintenance and a timeless aesthetic appeal that reflects the sanctity and permanence of the Ram Mandir.
The windows were made using advanced processes such as vacuum arc melting, forging and hot rolling using a wide rolling mill; water jet cutting for complex patterns; and CNC machining for precision, uniformity and a high-quality finish, giving each panel a three-dimensional appearance. The distinctive golden appearance was achieved through the anodizing process. All components were designed, engineered and manufactured indigenously, the release added.
