PSL will operate independently after PCB approval (Image: X) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approved a landmark restructuring of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and granted the country’s premier T20 competition full administrative and financial autonomy as part of a series of key decisions taken during the 84th meeting of the PCB Board of Governors (BoG) in Lahore on Monday.According to PTI, the meeting presided over by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi unanimously approved the move, marking a major shift in the governance of the PSL, which has been run directly by the PCB since its inception in 2016.

PSL 12 budget approved as part of financial restructuring

The decision comes after months of discussions about the league’s financial structure and governance. Despite the PSL approving autonomy, the PCB is yet to release audited financial reports for the last two editions of the league. The board also approved the budget for the 12th edition of PSL while balancing the surplus budget for the financial year 2026-27. However, the full financial details of the new budget have not been released by the PCB.CFO Javed Murtaza presented the members with a detailed overview of the board’s financial situation and budget allocations for the upcoming fiscal year. In a major boost to Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure, the PCB has increased the domestic cricket budget by Rs 1 billion, taking the total allocation from Rs 3 billion to Rs 4 billion.The board also announced a significant increase in player compensation. Match fees for players participating in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy have more than tripled from Rs 30,000 to Rs 100,000 per match, while reserve players will now get Rs 50,000, up from Rs 15,000.

Rs6. 7 billion allocated for the stadium

The board also approved the allocation of funds to host the Women’s ODI and T20 tournaments, commission 12 more cricket grounds and provide resources to improve human resources and also set the minimum wage for regional ground staff at 42,000 rupees.An allocation of 6.70 billion rupees was also approved for the upgradation of infrastructure, including the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi.
