A chaotic free-hitting moment in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) became a talking point even as Peshawar Zalmi registered an eight-wicket win over Quetta Gladiators on Wednesday.Abrar Ahmed was on strike for a free after Ali Raza bowled the ball. Confusion in the middle ensued. Abrar guides the ball towards backward point, initially looking for a single. Usman Tariq had already come off the field a lot before he was sent back. The fielder picked up the ball and moved to try to run out the hitter’s end, but then changed direction and threw toward the pitcher’s end. He missed the throw and Usman would have been out if he hit the stumps.Despite the confusion at that point, Zalmi controlled the match. Quetta were restricted to 154 with Sufiyan Muqeem and Iftikhar Ahmed leading the bowling effort. In the chase, Babar Azam scored an unbeaten 71 off 51 balls and added a partnership with Mohammad Haris and Kusal Mendis as Zalmi chased down the target with ease to register their fifth straight win.The win moved Peshawar Zalmi closer to qualifying for the playoffs and kept them at the top of the table. The win marked Zalmi’s sixth in seven games and fifth in a row after their win against three-time champions Islamabad United in Lahore.
