Doubt echoes from PAK vs USA T20 World Cup clash
The latest controversy drew attention back to an incident during the Pakistan-USA Men’s T20 World Cup match in Dallas.During that game, Zaman was seen picking up the ball and placing it under his jersey for an extended period of time, appearing to be handled with both hands – raising suspicions among the US players. This act differed from conventional ball lighting, which typically involves rubbing the ball with one hand.Soon after, the ball began to turn noticeably, making it difficult to hit even though the USA was in a strong position. The match eventually went to a Super Over, which the USA won.According to a Cricbuzz report, the USA players reportedly raised concerns with officials, including fourth umpire Rod Tucker and match referee Jeff Crowe, although no formal charges were laid at the time.Questions without conclusionsWhile neither incident has yet led to proven wrongdoing, the similarities — both in timing and nature — have intensified the scrutiny surrounding Zaman. Both situations occurred when his side were under pressure. With the PSL hearing underway, the outcome could determine whether this remains an isolated controversy or develops into a bigger issue. Zaman has so far maintained his innocence, but the spotlight on his actions has rarely been sharper.
