(AP Photo/Aurelien Morissard) NEW DELHI: Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich produced one of the best Champions League semi-finals ever as PSG beat Bayern 5-4 in a thrilling first leg in Paris on Tuesday.The match became the highest-scoring semi-final in Champions League history, with both sides attacking relentlessly from start to finish. Harry Kane opened the scoring for Bayern from the penalty spot before Khvich Kvaratskhelia equalized with a brilliant solo effort.Joao Neves then put PSG ahead but Michael Olise quickly made it 2-2. PSG regained the lead before half-time thanks to a penalty converted by Ousmane Dembele.The second half continued at the same frantic pace. Kvaratskhelia scored again after a quick PSG counter-attack, while Dembele added another to make it 5-2 and put the French champions completely in control.Kvaratskhelia has once again been a standout player for PSG and has continued his incredible form in the Champions League this season.“I’m sure everyone who likes football really enjoyed it. It was a real pleasure to play in this game, the kind of game we dream about as kids,” PSG captain Marquinhos said after the match.
Bayern are defending themselves
Despite the big slump, Bayern refused to give up. Dayot Upamecano pulled one back with a header before Luis Diaz scored Bayern’s fourth goal to preserve the tie ahead of next week’s return in Munich.“We battled, we scraped and we’re back in the draw,” Kane said.The winner of the two legs will advance to the Champions League final in Budapest later this month.
