Reaction on social networks
Reactions on social media were mixed. While some are happy that the family is safe, others are said to have “double standards”.
“The passport will always be the same not because you love your country but because the UAE won’t give you or your family citizenship… so conceited,” wrote one user.
“Why did right-wingers move to Dubai and leave their Matr Bhumi?” another user asked.
Another user wrote, “Everyone is leaving India. What is the shame of saying you have left for good? Why add drama? Everyone is leaving, even government people have their children settled abroad.”

“Like if you are allowed to get UAE citizenship, what option do you have other than “the passport will always remain an Ashoka passport”? another user asked.
“What is this double standard bhai sahab? Either your home is India or Dubai. Don’t play games. Just want to keep your Indian options open in case the worst happens… You and your family will be flying back to India soon,” chimed in another.
One user wrote: “What you say makes a lot of sense. Stay safe and happy. There must be a good reason why you and many of our own brothers chose Dubai.”
Another user wrote: “I must say I’m amazed. I didn’t expect a ‘nationalist’ like you to be based in Dubai. I wonder why!”
