“Manipur continued to witness protests because the demonstrators resisted the ban and clash with the security forces in several Imphal Valley districts, which demanded unconditional release of the arrested leader Aambai Tengolu Kanan Singh and four others,” police said on Tuesday (June 10, 2025).
On Monday (June 9, 2025) clashes broke out in the Khurai Lamlong region at East District Imphal East District, forced security staff to fire several rounds of tear shells and rubber bullets to dispel the crowd. “The protesters reportedly lit at least one quad,” the police said.
Protests, such as roadblocks and tire burning, were also held in the districts of Thoubal and Kakching. The tension also expanded on Monday (June 9, 2025) in the Tera area in the Imphal West district, when unidentified miscreants fired into security forces.
“At least seven laps of the small firearms were released in the terra area when the CRPF staff cleaned the roadblocks protesting. The pamiligitation forces, together with the state police, rushed to perform search operations to charge the culprits, but the protesters enveloped other thorough search operations,” said the official.
In the Zambol in the Bishhnupur district, at least two police staff suffered during confrontation with demonstration injuries. “After an incident in Zambol, a company was registered after two police staff were manipuruing during confrontation with protesters,” the officials said.
According to the authorities, there was an injury, while the team led by Bishhnupur SP tried to clean the roadblocks along the Nambol road, leading to a clash between protesters and security forces. On Tuesday (June 10, 2025), Imphal streets witnessed normal business activities with many rushing to buy basic items from road suppliers.
