The appointment made through the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) in 2016 was disrupted by accusations of extensive discrepancies.
The police resorted to the allegations of Lathi after the tension between the protesters and the security staff. More than 30 teachers reportedly suffered serious injuries. The police later described the use of force as “minimal and limited”.
