The activist Vinod Patil, who filed proposals for the Maratha quota courts on Wednesday (September 3, 2025), called the Government Resolution (GR) to grant Kunbi certificates to the “completely unnecessary” community members.
GR, released on the leader of the Maratha Movement MANOJ JARANGE, has started hunger in Mumbai, will not benefit the community in any meaningful way, Mr. Patil said.
“The truth is that even a single certificate will not come out of this GR. I have fought for a legal battle for the and certainty community I can say that those who do not have documentary evidence of the Kunbi line will never get anything. Therefore, I call this decision a great disappointment,” Sambhajinagar said.
He demanded that the higher Minister of BJP Radhakrishn Vikhe Patil, who leads the cabinet’s sub -cabinet to reserve Maratha, should organize a press conference to explain the GR intent and take responsibility for government promises.
Jarange ended his fasting on Tuesday evening after the Maharashtra government released a GR to create a Committee on Kunbi Caste certificates to members of the Marath Community with historical proof of their Kunbi, a social group classified as other backward class in the State.
“The GR process is not exclusive for the Kunbi certificate, but is commonly used in the issue of a caste certificate. The whole process is not new, but through GR, the government provided it in a written format.
“Our demand was for Marathas who have no certificates that would prove their Kunbi line to obtain the status of the CITC for current demanding conditions. This demand is not fulfilled at all,” Patil said.
Minister Vikhe Patil, who asked the notes of Vinoda Patil, said the government had adopted Jarange’s main requirements, including Gazetteers Hyderabad and Satar, withdrawing police cases against protesters and financial assistance and jobs for families who lost their lives during the previous agitation.
The Minister said the state was looking for two months to issue the final GR recognition Marathas and Kunbis for one and assured that the interests of the community would not be endangered.
But Patil refused to calm down. He claimed that former Minister Eknath Shinde “played with Gulal and did not give any answers”, and now Vikhe Patil did the same. “From 100, I will give this GR minus zero grades,” he said.
The activist also expressed regret that he could not personally pay tribute to the protesters who died during the fight against quota. “Society is looking at me with expectations. But let me be cautious: this GR is just a piece of paper and nothing more,” he said.
Jarange, who held several fasts to seek a reservation for Marathas in education and government jobs, is the face of the quota movement since 2023 Jalna Lathi, when the police action against the protesters triggered a wave of agitation across the Mahashtra.
