Taking a strong exception from the recent remark of veteran actor Kamal Haasan about the origin of Kannada, several writers, artists, linguists, intellectuals and activists in Kannada on Monday on Monday in Dharwad.
The protest, headed by Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha, a 100 -year representative body of Kannadigas, will be presented in front of the office of the deputy Commissioner Dharwad. The protest starts at 11 am
Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha, who took part in the exception of the remark of Kamal Haasana about the origin of Kannada, attended a consulting meeting in which Senior scientists Kannada, artists and intellectuals attended.
After paying negotiations during the meeting, Sangha adopted several resolutions. They are: although they said that “Tamil is the mother of Cannada and that Kannada came from Tamil”, actor Kamal Haasan apologized or regretted. He also did not fulfill the Directive of the High Court to apologize.
Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha has no opposition or to Tamil’s language or Tamil-speaking people, because it is known that languages from the proto-nidian language have evolved into different languages.
Although it is true, Kamal Haasan allegedly said he still intends to speak of Tamil’s domination. He has the right to talk about his language, but Belittling or humiliation of another language is strongly convicted of Sangha.
“Until June 25, Kamal Haasan must withdraw his unfounded statement about Kannada, express regret and apologize to Kannadigas. If he fails to do so, Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha will be forced to start nationwide intensive agitation,” says Sangha.
In accordance with the decision accepted during the consultation meeting, Sangha will carry out Dharna on Monday and present a memorandum registering his protest against the actor’s note.
