Organizations representing traders and sunlight in the renewable energy sector (RE) of the state presented a protest before the Office for the Regulatory Commission for Electricity Keral (KSERC) on Thursday on Thursday called the Commission Regulation on renewable energy impractical and damage to this industry.
The protest was organized by the Ministry of approved solar traders (Masters) with support of organizations such as the Consortium for renewable keral sources for renewable resources and promoters and consortium of renewable energy sources.
Traders in this industry also observed “solar bandh” on Thursday by the fact that companies involved in production, sales, installation and services closed in the protest.
“Denial of a fair hearing”
Interestingly, the protest came just a few days before the hearing of the planned commission from July 8 to July 11, on the proposal of Kserc (renewable energy and related matters), 2025.
Demonstrators wanted the Commission to organize physical hearing in all constituencies of the Assembly, to ensure the support of solar policy at national level for programs such as PM Surya Ghar, and retained the current conditions for the network measurement system (NMS).
If policy design is implemented in its current state, according to Masters, the number of people who have decided on roof solar systems would decrease drastically. This would also adversely affect the livelihoods of the lacquers of people involved in the production, sale, installation and services of the RE components, the organization claimed.
Mediated
The delegation of protesting organizations also met with the chairman of the TK Commission and mediated their concerns.
Meanwhile, the Commission said online hearing would take place in three sessions for each of the four days. More than 500 people would be heard in each of the sessions. According to the commission, hearing was planned online to ensure higher public participation.
Hearing registration is open until 17:00 on Friday.
