Authorities at the University of Calicut, which quoted the order of the High Court in the Kerala, banned protests in the district of 200 meters from the TenHipalam area in the Malappuram district.
This was handed over to the leaders of student organizations by an official of Station House (SHE), who was attached to the police station in Tenhingalam on Sunday. Police announcements come against the background of a number of protests organized by the Indian Federation of Students (SFI), Kerala Student Sond (KSU) and the Muslim Federation (MSF) on the premises.
While the SFI protest was against the alleged chronization of state universities, KSU and MSF also organized protests against the reported manipulation of university employees during the SFI protest. Meanwhile, P. Ravendran, vice -chairman, suspended nine SFFi activists to accusation of attacking university employees and creating a hand in the VC office.
The Shove command says that according to the order of the High Court in Keral, demonstrations, strikes or “Dharnas”, they will not be allowed within 200 meters of university buildings, Paeeksha Bhavan and the administrative office. According to sources, the original order was issued in 2012, when M. Abdul Salam VC. The current VC is now reportedly sent by police officials who reminded them of such a directive. The police warned students of strict action if they violate the order.
However, SFI officials said they would continue protests until the students were suspended.
