Proddatur TDP leader faces death threat

Proddatur TDP leader G. Praveen Kumar Reddy received a letter from Speed ​​Post in which an unknown person threatened to kill him. The letter also mentioned a “repeat of 1982”, suggesting the possibility of a vengeful act.

Mr. Praveen has been in the news for settling charges as part of his ongoing tussle with fellow veteran TDP leader and sitting MLA N. Varadarajulu Reddy.

According to sources, the person allegedly used a fake name, address and mobile number in the letter. Mr. Praveen formally lodged a complaint with the Proddatur police on Friday (June 5, 2026).

Speaking to the media, Mr. Praveen said that his family had faced several attacks in the past and therefore he would not be intimidated by a threatening letter. “Whoever you are, first reveal your identity and then threaten me,” he said.

Mr. Praveen has been raising questions about alleged incidents of land grabbing in his constituency. A similar letter was also sent to his close friend Pallapad Chandra.
