Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Wednesday that the Gaddar Film Awards screening process will begin on February 6, with the award ceremony scheduled for March 19, coinciding with Ugadi.
During a meeting at the secretariat in front of the jury members of Gaddar Film Awards, he said that last year’s event sent a strong message to the entire world and assured that this year too will be organized on a grand scale. “The FDC and the Information and Public Relations Department have been given full autonomy and support in organizing the event,” he said.
To ensure the transparency of the selection process, the Deputy CM recalled that last year’s jury had earned wide recognition for its impartiality. The current jury, appointed in consultation with the Film Development Corporation (FDC), consists of experienced and respected industry figures. He said the government would extend full cooperation to ensure the smooth conduct of the tender process.
Reiterating that ‘Praja Palan’ aims to ensure public welfare through every initiative, he urged the jury members to consider not only commercial appeal but also strong social messages while selecting the award-winning films, thus encouraging compelling storytelling.
“The state government is giving top priority to the Telugu film industry and is trying to transform Hyderabad into a leading center for cinema production in the country,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister noted that traditional film centers like Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai have limited scope for expansion, while Hyderabad offers significant advantages for filmmakers across languages.
He added that the state government would soon prepare a comprehensive plan to strengthen the ecosystem. On the occasion, he paid rich tributes to the revolutionary balladeer Gaddar.
The meeting was attended by FDC Chairman Dil Raju, I&PR Commissioner Priyanka and several prominent film personalities.
