Bus commuting in Bengalur is facing a new problem with the Namma BMTC mobile application, which allows you to watch more than 6,000 city buses in real time. Passengers complained that the newly launched electric air -conditioned (AC) buses, including Vayu Vajra services at the KEVEGOWDA International Airport, cannot be viewed on the platform.
Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) last month to improve airport bus services last month introduced a new fleet of electric buses. In August, 320 fully electric AC buses were introduced according to the GRASD Cost Contract (GCC), which includes 235 buses for Vajra City Services and 85 for Vayu Vajra airport services.
The first phase was 14 August 10 electric buses Vayu Vajra, which operated on 11 routes connecting residential and commercial nodes Bengaluru with the airport. While the commuters welcomed a new fleet, many quickly emphasized the absence of these buses in the Namma BMTC application.
Regular commuting faces a problem
The Prasad Manoj, a daily commuting from JP Nagar, which relies on Vayu Vajra services to reach the airport, said the delay causes inconvenience. “Previously, I could watch old Vayu Vajra buses in the application. Now new electric buses Vayu Vajra will not appear at all. For regular commuting like me, the application is very useful because I can check the location of the bus and leave home.
Namma BMTC, launched in 2023, was an important application for the city travelers. Currently, 6,245 buses are watching in real time and helping passengers more effectively plan their ways. The application available on Android, and iOS, not only provides live route information, but also allows users to find near bus stops, check devices at stations and centers for transport and transit management (TTMC), and even increase notifications through the integrated SOS.
For many users, however, the tracking gap has undermined the purpose of the application. “Namma BMTC is good for tracking, but recently I have noticed that most of the newly launched electric AC buses are not displayed. Regular buses are visible, but not a new fleet. This makes it difficult to travel as a travel plan.
Integration is still in progress
BMTC officials acknowledged the technical problem. The manager confirmed that new electric buses with Namma BMTC are still integrating. “All EV buses have already been integrated in the BMTC fleet according to our GCC application. Only newly launched alternating electric buses are waiting for integration.
The official added that because electric alternating buses are a new fleet accessory, the integration process takes time. “These buses are brand new and their on -board systems must be synchronized with our tracking network. We are working on completion first.”
