A 21-year-old employee of a private company was allegedly found carrying a live bullet by security personnel at Cubbon Park subway station during a routine security check on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Mohammed Suhail, a resident of Chikkamagaluru, was trying to enter the station when security personnel checked his luggage at the entry gate and found a live bullet. He was immediately detained and later handed over to the police in Obchodní ulica for further investigation.
Based on a complaint filed by GN Lokesh, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Suhail was booked under relevant sections of the Arms Act, 1959 and remanded in custody.
During interrogation, Suhail allegedly told police that he got the bullet from his friend, a hairdresser from Chikkamagalur, and kept it as a souvenir, police said.
The police sent the seized bullet to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis and launched an investigation to verify his claim.
