Prithvi Shaw wrote to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), which was looking for a certificate without objection (night) to switch to another state team before the upcoming home season. The source confirmed the development and said the matter would be discussed before the final call.
“Yes, he wrote us for the night. We will discuss and decide,” MCA said today India.
The request of Prithvi Shaw comes after a turbulent run with cricket in Mumbai in the last two seasons. As soon as Shaw was considered one of the brightest young talents in the Indian cricket, Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy Squad was dropped last year, with selection citizens quoted concerns about fitness. Although he returned to play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy under the captain of Shreyas Iyer, he helped Mumbai’s title to win the title, was omitted from the Vijay Hazare Trophy team that followed.
After his omission, Shaw took on social mediaPublication of a report that reflected disappointment and confusion about the selector decision.
“Tell me what more I have to see. If 65 shifts, 3399 run on average 55.7 with a blow of 126, I’m not good enough, but I will keep my faith in you and hopefully people in me, because I will definitely come back.
Last year, the MCA responded strongly to Shaw’s explosion. The manager spoke on condition of anonymity, said Shaw repeatedly violated team protocols and did not meet the basic fitness standards.
“His fitness, discipline and attitude are missing and we cannot have different rules for different players,” the clerk said. “The ball would pass near him and barely try to achieve him. Even if he detonated, he tried to reach the ball.”
It was also reported that Shaw missed training sessions and often returned to the team hotel late, led to frustration in the group. Some older players were understood to express their concerns to the team.
Shaw last played a list of crickets in India during 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Last season he proved to Northamptonshire in English One Day Cup and scored 97, 72, 9, 23 and 17 in five shifts. In his last five Mumbai games before he was dropped, he had a score of 32, 54, 39, 51 and 10.
His career has seen frequent ups and falls since his sensational debut in 2018, when he scored a century against West India at the age of 18. Since then, Shaw has performed in only four tests, his last appeared in 2020.
At the beginning of this year, Shaw did not sell at the IPL auction, although he set the basic price of RS 75 lakh.
If MCA gives him the night, Shaw could become the latest in the growing list of crickets looking for new opportunities outside their home state, trying to revive a stopped career.
