The prison officer’s assistant in the district prison in Kakkanad was injured on Tuesday in alleged stir caused by two prisoners who are also siblings.
The accused are Ajith Ganesh, 28 and Akhil Ganesh, 26, from Ambballamed. They face accusations in several cases, including alleged vandalism of the police station and attacking a police driver. Since February they have been on district prison.
The prison authorities reportedly filed a complaint against the police against these two for the alleged attack by colleagues from the prisoner on Monday. Later they reportedly injured another prisoner. As a result, the prison officer’s representative summoned them to the office when he allegedly became aggressive.
While Ajith reportedly injured the blade, Akhil hit his head on the cell grill. In the resulting melee, the auxiliary prison officer Akhil Mohanan took a fracture in his hand. Police are investigating the incident.
