Prince Harry spoke of his long -awaited meeting with his father, King Charles III, and for more than 19 months he described his first personal conversation in more than 19 months.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, arrived in Clarence House, the Royal London residence, on Wednesday (September 10) for what is marked as “private tea”. The meeting took almost an hour and it was the first time they both met since February 2024, shortly after Charles revealed his diagnosis of cancer.
Harry’s reflection at the meeting
At Invictus, the Duke of Sussex later asked the reporter about his father after the meeting, Harry said simply, “Yes, it’s great. Thank you.”
Long -term tearing
In particular, Prince William, who has been stolen for years since his younger brother and Meghan Markle, was missing.
Harry had previously admitted that the tense ties had cut him off from his father. In the May interview with the BBC, he said, “My father will not talk to me because of these security things … But I would like to reconcile with my family. There is no sense to continue fighting. And life is rare.”
“I don’t know how long my father has … but it would be nice to accept,” the BBC said at the beginning of this year.
Past tension
The Duke was opened on its challenges growing up in the monarchy, especially after returning from royal duties in 2020 and moving to California with his wife Meghan Markle. His naval and television interviews of his memory and television interviews have only deepened the tension.
“Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book,” Harry said at the beginning of this year.
Homage to Queen Elizabeth II
Before the meeting, Harry visited the Chapel of St. George at Windsor Castle to honor the late Queen Elizabeth II to the third anniversary of her death. In her place of rest he laid a wreath and flowers and paid tribute to his grandmother.
Step towards reconciliation?
Harry’s short but positive comments on his father offered a flash of hope for reconciliation.
The meeting comes as King Charles, 76 years old, continues to treat cancer, and since Harry equals his role as the founder of Invictus with a continued tension in the royal family.
