Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched his campaign ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
The Prime Minister addressed two rallies today, one in Arrah and the other in Nawada.
He returned to Patna around 5:00 pm where he paid floral tributes to the statue of Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and launched a grand roadshow in support of NDA candidates for the upcoming polls.
Modi will also visit Takht Sri Harimandir Sahib Gurudwara in Patna after the roadshow.
Here are the key takeaways from his speeches in Arrah and Nawada today:
1. The Prime Minister launched scathing attacks on the Mahagathbandhan and also called their manifesto a “bunch of lies”. According to Modi, “ye public hai sab jaanti hai (This is the public. They know everything)”.
2. Modi welcomed the NDA manifesto, also known as their Sankalp Patra, which contains provisions that will benefit children’s education, employment, family healthcare and irrigation facilities for farmers.
3. The PM also focused on women empowerment. “Several robust measures have been proposed to empower women and daughters so that as many sisters as possible from Bihar can become Lakhpati Didis (women earning over one crore rupees),” Modi said, according to ANI.
4. The youth of Bihar also got a special mention in Modi’s speech at Arrah. “Bihar is among the states with the highest youth population and hence the NDA is giving a lot of emphasis to education and skill development. This commitment is clearly reflected in our Sankalp Patra. Our resolve is to make the youth of Bihar work in Bihar itself and make the state proud. To achieve this we have announced the creation of one million (10 million) jobs in the coming years and this is not just a plan announced in Bihar but our detailed target “Made in India,” he said.
5. While talking about his rivals RJD and Congress, Modi reiterated the ‘jungle raj’ allegations that continue to haunt the Yadav family. He also linked the Congress to the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 and claimed that the party still placed people allegedly behind the riots in top positions within its hierarchy.
6. Talking about his government’s initiatives for farmers, the Prime Minister in Nawada claimed that post-independence governments were not favoring small farmers. “But this is Modi, ‘jinhe koi nahi poochhta, Modi unhe poojta hai’ (Modi worships those no one else cares about). In the last 11 years, our government has brought small farmers to the center of agriculture policy,” the PM said, according to ANI.
7. Modi also claimed that the Congress “royal family” was losing sleep over terrorist hideouts in Pakistan being bombed. He said, “When the terrorist hideouts in Pakistan were bombed, the Congress royal family stopped sleeping. Pakistan and the Congress still haven’t recovered from the shock of Operation Sindoor.”
8. The Prime Minister also claimed that the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ started by the Congress was aimed at protecting the infiltrators who need to be driven out to protect the resources of Bihar for its rightful citizens.
