Padma Shri Award Award and the spiritual gurus of Baba Sivanand died of health complications. His disciples say he was 128.
Baba Sivanand was admitted to the BHU 30. April with some health problems. He died on Saturday (May 3, 2025) Night.
His body was held in his residence in Kabirnagar Colony to pay people’s last respect. His last ceremonies will be made later this evening, the disciples said.
Baba Sivanand was born on August 8, 1896 in the Sylhet district in today’s Bangladesh and lost his parents to starvation, when he was only six years old, they said.
Since then, he has followed the life of economy and discipline and ate only half the stomach of food, they said.
After the extinction of his parents, he was taken under the care of Omkarnanda, who became his guardian and mentor. It was under his leadership that Baba Sivanand gained spiritual education and life teachings.
Baba Sivanand was recognized as his contributions to yoga and spirituality and in 2022 he was granted with Padma Shri.
His disciples attributed his longevity and robust health to his disciplined lifestyle. They said they wake up every day at 3am, exercise yoga and handle all his work himself.
He ate cooked food and slept on the mat. Main Minister Yogi Adityanath paid his honor to Guru Yoga and prayed for his salvation.
The death of Shri Vijay Rai Ji, senior journalist and advisory editor Rashtriya Sahara, is extremely sad.
