
Nitra:President of the Murmu Murmu was awarded an honorary doctorate Constantine Philosopher University on Thursday for her “important career in public service”.
The President arrived at the campus to gain honor on the last day of the four -day state visit to Slovakia and Portugal.
President Murmu is recognized for her important career in public service and administration, defending for social justice and integration, the university said in its statement.
She was also recognized as her contribution to education, authorization of women and maintaining and supporting cultural and linguistic diversity, she added.
In her speech, the President said she was accepting the honor of 1.4 billion people in India.
Murmu said that receiving the title from an institution named after philosopher Saint Constantine Cyril was particularly meaningful because of his contributions to language, education and philosophy.
As someone who worked to preserve the Indian linguistic and cultural diversity, including the cultural recognition of Santhali, Murm said it appreciated the power of language to form identity and support knowledge.
She said that education is a means not only for individual authorization but also for national development.
India realized that India placed education at the heart of its national development strategy. With half of its population under 25 years of age, the nation invests in its instruments to control the knowledge economy tomorrow, she said.
“The new policy of national education is a visionary initiative designed to use this demographic dividend, support for culture of innovation, research and global cooperation,” she said.
The university appreciates the degratho “exceptional individuals” who significantly contributed to the development of education, science, culture or otherwise contributed to the spread of ideas of humanism, democracy and understanding between nations and have an internationally recognized dimension.
This honorary title is awarded by the Scientific Council of the University. In addition to important academics in various fields, the previous recipient is the former President of Brazil, Fernando Henrique Cardoso (2002).
The university bears the name of the Byzantine missionary and philosopher Saint Constantine Cyril, one of the most important names in Slovak history.
The university has five faculties and 7,029 students, of which 5 562 are enrolled in full -time programs. It also has about 400 international students.
Nitra, known as the mother of Slovak cities, dates back to 870 NL, which makes it one of the oldest recorded settlements in Slovakia.
