Manchester City named Bernard Silva for his new captain in what could be his last campaign in the club. Guardiola allows his players and employees to choose the captain, but decided to go against the standard and named Silva as a party leader after a trophy campaign. Together with Silva, Guardiola also named Rodri, Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland as vice presidents.
Silva’s contract in the club will end in 2026 and indicated that they do not have to extend the contract in the club. The midfielder, who joined Monaco in 2017, was associated with moving back to his Boyhood Club Benfica.

“I know what I’m going to do, but it’s no time to talk about it,” Silva said. “I am very focused on my season. I am very focused to work well for Man City. When time is due, I will talk about it.
“I have one year on my contract, so I can probably leave next season. In the past I had opportunities and this year, as last year, and this year my opportunity is to stay in Man City,” Silva said.
Why did the Guardiola choose his new captain
Guardiola explained why he decided to choose a new captain because he was dissatisfied with several things last season. Last year Kyle Walker was selected as a captain, but the defender was sent to AC Milan during the January transfer window.
“I am a manager this season, for the first time in my career I decided who will be my captain,” Guardiola said. “I didn’t like what happened last season. I decided this season.”
“Sometimes I want to be a boss and this season I decided to do it, so I chose four captains and at the end of this World Championship, maybe we choose another or two.”
Guardiola also said he would soon become Haaaland Captain of the city.
“Erling Haaland is so young, but he must start learning what it means to be a captain, because there will be many, many years,” he said. “Sooner or later he will take this position first.”
All the city is ready to start the FIFA Culb 18th June Cup campaign.
