Prakasam district witnessed a slight decline in total crime by 6.61 percent in 2025. As against 8,371 cases registered in 2024, the current year witnessed only 7,818 cases. The district also dealt with several sensational cases during the year.
Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Harshavardhan Raju said at a media conference in Ongola on Tuesday that 1,122 cases of physical crime, 632 cases of property crime, 709 women related crimes, 757 road accidents, 44 cyber crime cases4 were witnessed in the year which was actually much less witnessed22.
Mr. Raju said property worth ₹4.44 crore was recovered out of the total stolen property worth ₹8.70 crore, with a recovery rate of an impressive 51.02 per cent. He attributed the drop in crime to the deployment of drones, CCTV cameras and increased nighttime rhythms in sensitive areas.
“129 out of 136 missing girls and 264 out of 292 missing women were traced, representing an impressive success rate of 94.85 per cent and 90.41 per cent respectively,” Mr Raju said. The district has also recorded details of 3,891 migrant workers as part of a crime crackdown.
