Former Member for Hassan Prajwal Revanna, who was convicted of rape on Friday, stood in court and begged for indulgence when Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat said the convict was “imprisoned for life”.
Prajwal continued to claim innocence and allegedly political plot. “My only mistake was that I was growing fast in politics,” he said.
Reportedly he said that the victim in this case was not ready to complain and the police forced her to file a complaint. He also pointed out that out of more than 100 women, the media claimed that he was abusing, only four filed complaints.
“I worked as a deputy for one term of office and did a good job. No one blamed me of rape when I was a member.
Reportedly he also said he was a graduate of mechanical engineering and was a student of merit. It’s been six months since he saw his parents, he said while attracted to leniency.
