
The scorching summer has dealt a heavy blow to the poultry industry and farm owners from various parts of the state have seen a spike in broiler chicken mortality as the birds struggle to withstand the intense heat.
Poultry farmers say rising daytime temperatures, along with high humidity, are making it harder for the birds to survive, forcing them to take extra measures to improve ventilation and cooling. The heat leads to reduced feed intake, slower growth and increased susceptibility to disease, they add.
