
The postal services continued in the Churachandpur district in conflict after more than two years, the postal department officials said on Saturday (October 4, 2025).
Postal and other postal services were suspended in the district after ethnic clashes broke out between Kuki-Zo and Meitei on May 3, 2023.
Officials said the postal delivery arrived in the town of Churachandpur, the district headquarters, on Friday at 11:30. She interpreted letters, land and other shipments before leaving for the capital of Imphal, more than an hour later.
“Restoring mail and other postal services is an encouraging step towards normal in manipure,” the state government official said.
More than 250 people were killed and 62,000 others were displaced by a conflict that continued for months. The state has been relatively peaceful since the imposition of the President of the President 13, four days after Nonghombam Biren Singh resigned as the main minister.
