On Tuesday (April 1, 2025), the Pandjab Police argued that it had averted a possible terrorist attack in the state with an operational associated with Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) from Pakistan and confiscated a hand grenade from its ownership.
Police Director (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that the accused was identified as Jaiveer Tyagi aka Jawed, a native of Baroli from the Saharanpur Uttar Pradesh district and is currently based in Ludhiana.
The Amritsar Counter Intelligence (CI) has received an entry to a revealing person with its registered office abroad, who works for the Pakistani ISI agency, along with his cousin Jaiveer Tyagi, he said.

He said that on the basis of the entries, the police teams started the LED news operation and detained the accused Jaiveer AZ his ownership acquired a hand grenade.
DGP said that further investigations revealed that the accused had stayed in Ludhian over the past 14 to 15 years and was in contact with OHLAM through encrypted messages for sending messages.
The probe also revealed that, according to his brother’s instructions, he had won a grenade. Further investigations are determined in this case in advance and backward ties, the officer said.
Meanwhile, the CI team from Ferozepur arrested a smuggling missile cross -border drug by arresting a smuggler and confiscating 3.50 kilograms of heroin from its ownership, the officials said.
The accused was identified as Sukhdev Singh alias Sukhi, from Mohan to Uttar in Ferozepur, they said.
Mr. Yadav said that a preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was in direct contact with a Pakistani smuggler who used drones to drop drug consignments from the border.
In this case, further investigation is underway to follow forward and feedback, he added.
Police said on the basis of Tip-off about the involvement of Sukhdev in smuggling activities, the teams started an operation based on news in the village of Lakho Ke-beram in Ferozepur and detained it along with seven heroin packages, each weighing 500 grams, each held in a plastic bag.
The officer said that the accused would deliver the shipment when the police teams arrested him.
They seek to reveal the entire network of suppliers, sellers and buyers and identify the person the accused was supposed to deliver a shipment of drugs, he said.
