
In 2024-25, the Kochi port reached the highest load throughput and treated 37.75 million tonnes almost 4% compared to the previous year 36.32 million tonnes. The port has seen continuous freight growth since 2020-21 with an annual growth rate of compunding 5.04%.
Communication from the cochin port office (CPA) said the port received 1,265 vessels with an average size of 29,839 tonnes, an improvement of 3.81% compared to 28,745 tons from the previous year.
The liquid mass cost was the largest share in the port processed in the port of the last financial year, which was 66% of the total volume of 25.10 million tonnes. Of these, oil was 17.26 million tonnes, followed by oil products to 6.3 million tonnes. Other liquids, including sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, ammonia, methanol and LNG, were 1.54 million tonnes.
LPG collection in the port has also improved and in the last year it increased from 1.34 Lakh tons to 3.64 lakh tons. The Bundering business remained stable at 3.54 Lakh tunnels compared to 3.44 Lakh tonnes in the previous financial year.
The dry mass and Break-Bulk cargo was 4% of the total port of the port. This included cement, rock phosphate, sulfur, ilmenite sand, axide oxide and steel products. Cement volumes, increased by the robust construction industry, increased by 10.67% to 8.36 Lakh tons in the last financial year, from 7.55 Lakh tons in the previous year.
Trade containers on an international container transport terminal showed robust growth, added the CPA edition. The permeability of the containers reached 8.34 Lakh Teus, which meant an 11% increase compared to 8% of the previous year.
