India Grand Mufti Kanthapuram AP Apoobacker Musliar paid tribute to Pope Francis and described him as a champion of humanity.
The Grand Mufti remembered the invaluable contributions of the Pope, including his tireless efforts to support refugees and minorities, supported religious harmony and advocated peace.
Mr. Kanthapuram also remarked the Pope’s strong connection with the Arab community and the Muslim world. “In his Easter report, he expressed solidarity with those who suffer in Palestine and called for the support of those who fight hunger,” he said.
Grand Mufti kindly remembered his personal interaction with Pope Francis at international conferences in Abu Dhabi in 2019 and Bahrain in 2022, where they developed a warm and friendly bond.
