The High Court on Monday (May 4, 2026) said the elected political executive v West Bengal would take a law and order decision while hearing an urgent verbal request for continued deployment of central forces in the state to prevent post-election violence after Council elections 2026.
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said that “The State of West Bengal will be governed by a political executive”.
