On Sunday (December 21, 2025), a pulse polio immunization drive was held in Nandyal, Kurnool and Anantapur districts.
BC Roads and Buildings Minister Janardhan Reddy administered polio drops to children at a camp at Priyadarshini School in Banaganapalle mandal of Nandyal district. He said every child under the age of five should receive the drops and urged people to make the immunization a success. “Two anti-polio drops will ensure the future of a child,” he said, adding that the government has made anti-polio drops available in all government hospitals and offices.
In Nandyal town, Collector Rajakumari Ganiya inaugurated a polio immunization camp at a municipal school in Nunepalla and administered polio drops to children. She said that this year they had set a target to administer drops to 2.35 lakh children in the district and the drops were administered at bus stands, railway stations and markets for the convenience of women passengers. She said medical teams would be making door-to-door visits from Monday (December 22).
Ms. Rajakumari said the government was providing nutritious food to children through anganwadi centers. She urged parents to send children below the age of five to anganwadi centers and children aged six to government schools.
In Anantapur, MP Ambica Lakshminarajana and Collector O. Anand attended the camp at the local municipal school. Mr Lakshminarajana said those who could not administer the drops to their children could receive the drops on Monday and Tuesday (December 23).
Mr. Anand said that there are 2,84,774 children in the age group of 0-5 years in the district and polio immunization was conducted in 1,785 polling stations in the district along with 51 primary health centers and other health facilities in urban and rural areas. A total of 5,247 employees are involved in the activity and they have created 58 teams at bus and railway stations as well as 68 mobile teams for transit passengers.
In Kurnool, the collector Dr. A. Siri participated in the immunization event at the municipal government secondary school in A Camp and administered drops to the children.
