A civilian police officer has been suspended for allegedly violating the rules of service conduct by posting a politically sensitive comment on Facebook in support of an LDF candidate.
The suspended officer, Vyshakhan Satheesan, has been attached to the Pangode police station. The action was taken by District Superintendent of Police (Thiruvananthapuram Rural) Juvanapudi Mahesh after an internal investigation.
It was learned that the suspended officer had allegedly commented on a media organization’s Facebook post saying that the LDF candidate in Vamanapuram Assembly constituency, DK Murali, would win the election.
The comment was found to be in violation of the rules of conduct applicable to civil servants, which prohibit the public expression of political bias. The suspension order also said the act brought the police force into disrepute and undermined its neutrality.
