
The district police made a major breakthrough when they cracked four cases of theft and robbery reported under Jewargi and Shahabad police limits, leading to the arrest of three accused and recovery of stolen property.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Superintendent of Police Adhuri Srinivasulu said that in connection with a case of housebreaking reported on November 27 at Gudur (S) village under Jewargi police limits, the police arrested accused Sunil P. Pawar from Yadrami Tanda in the first week of December.
During interrogation, police recovered 51 grams of gold ornaments worth about ₹ 6,000 and 212 grams of silver ornaments from the accused.
In another case, the police solved a robbery reported from Ijeri village where Ameerbee Mohammad Patel Khaleghoda was attacked with a knife and robbed of valuables.
Acting on credible information, the Jewarg police arrested Mohammed Younus, a 26-year-old resident of Ijeri village, Yadrami taluk, and recovered 16 grams of gold ornaments from him.
The police have made a major breakthrough by arresting an inter-district temple thief who broke into the Sri Chandrala Parameshwari temple at Honagunta village on the night of October 24 and stole a 10-gram gold mangalsutra of the deity.
Police arrested Chirag Ratoda, a resident of Chijori village in Baramati, Maharashtra. The stolen gold ornament was found with him.
However, the other three accused in the case are absconding and efforts are on to trace them, Mr. Srinivasulu added.
Following a rise in motorcycle theft cases in Shahabad city, police have arrested two juveniles and recovered three stolen motorcycles worth ₹90,000 from them, a police officer said.
