In a crackdown on illegal transportation and cattle smuggling, the Sultanabad Police on Sunday rescued about 42 bulls and cows from two vehicles in separate incidents at Dubbapalli in Peddapalli district.
Police impounded a Hyderabad-bound container lorry carrying 33 bulls early on Sunday morning while checking the vehicle at a check post near Dubbapalli.
In another incident, the police intercepted a van and rescued 9 cows at the same checkpoint later in the day.
The van was en route from Chhattisgarh to an undisclosed location in Karnataka, sources added.
Police registered a case against the crew of the van, identified as Syed Shabad and Moiuddin, and shifted the rescued cattle to a nearby goshala.
