The Idukki Collector ordered the police to register the criminal case against MM Lambodaran, the brother of the Indian leader (Marxist) of MM Mani, to accuse the illegal operation of the zipper line in Iruttukanam near Munnar in IDUKKI.
Collector V. Vigneshwari issued an order on May 24 and suspended all adventure travel activities in the district due to rain warnings. After the rain retreated 1 June, the owner restored the zippered operation without the consent of the district administration.
Sources said that more than 1,500 tourists used the PSIP line within three days.
The collector ordered the immediate suspension of the PSIP Line service after it was notified. Mrs. Vigneshwari said that the ZIP line is in contradiction with the Act on Catastrophe management and the owner will be registered against the owner. A fine would also be imposed.
She said that the suspension of tourism adventure activities would continue until the next warning.
