Police on behalf of NTR performed the last rites of a male monkey that died in a park near Police Control Station (PCR).
“We don’t know the reasons behind the monkey’s death. We have arranged a funeral for the monkey as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner of Police Vamshidhar Gouda,” traffic sub-inspector (SI) Faizulla Baig told The Hindu on Sunday.
“Many monkeys are playing in the scrap and greenery along the canal embankment. We noticed a dead monkey in the park on Saturday and alerted higher officials,” said police constables Nagendra and Deva, who performed the last rites.
“When we are tired after regulating the traffic at the busy PCR junction, we used to relax when we saw the monkeys jumping on the trees and playing in the park. We are saddened after seeing one of the dead monkeys,” said Mr. Faizulla Baig. The burial was conducted on the canal embankment in a befitting manner, said Warden Leela.
